Overview & Strategic Impact
If you are tired of building duplicate clones of Twitter or Spotify that never see the light of day, this role is for you. During this intensive 6-month paid internship, you will work alongside senior engineers building Next.js web applications, crafting design systems, and debugging live performance issues on systems used by thousands of businesses.
About the Team & Practice
Pixirain Engineering treats interns as junior engineers in training, not tea-runners or ticket assigners. You will be assigned a senior mentor, given a genuine backlog of features and bug fixes, and expected to push code to the exact same production environment the founders deploy to. Our internship is our primary channel for full-time junior engineering hires.
What You'll Do & Deliver
Concrete responsibilities you will own from your first month onward:
Build, refine, and ship frontend features using Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, and modern CSS architecture.
Investigate and resolve genuine user-reported frontend bugs, writing unit tests to prevent regressions.
Collaborate with Product Design to implement pixel-stepped geometric components and responsive layouts.
Participate in daily code reviews, absorbing architectural feedback and learning how production software is constructed.
Optimize page load times, bundle sizes, and interaction responsiveness across diverse mobile devices.
Write clear technical notes and documentation explaining your code choices and implementation decisions.
What We Expect & How Success is Measured
Transparent milestone goals for your first 30, 60, and 90 days:
- Month 1:Set up the local development environment, understand our component patterns, and merge your first pull request to production.
- Month 2–3:Take ownership of self-contained product tasks, build complex interactive form states, and master TypeScript generics.
- Month 4–6:Independently architect a complete UI feature branch, contribute improvements to the design system, and participate in architecture discussions.
- Completion:Top-performing interns will be directly offered a full-time Senior Associate Frontend Engineer position at Pixirain.

What We're Looking For
- Current student in your final year or recent graduate in Computer Science, Engineering, or self-taught equivalent.
- A portfolio or GitHub repository showcasing at least one web application you personally designed and built from scratch.
- Availability for 6 continuous months at a minimum commitment of 35–40 hours per week.
- High degree of personal discipline, responsiveness, and enthusiasm for software craftsmanship.
Nice to have (bonus, not mandatory)
- Prior contributions to open-source software libraries or documentation
- A strong aesthetic sense and appreciation for spacing, typography, and micro-interactions
- Familiarity with serverless architectures, REST APIs, and relational databases
